PinBrawl Team Rankings

Due to the time restraints, the tournaments directors will rank teams for the first round of play. It is important to remember that these rankings are only preliminary and your team controls it's final destiny. The actual first round of play will determine a team's actual division and seeding in that division for the tournament.

Teams are ranked by past PinBrawl/tournament performances as well as their overall known skill level. The tournament directors first rank all the teams based on an average WPPR ranking per player. Due to the inclusion of players within PinBrawl that are not included in the WPPR, the tournament directors will approixmate that player's ranking based on their known skill level and other tournament performance. This is to help ensure more proper matchups rather than giving these  known  players the lowest rating because they not in the WPPR.

A quick example would be a team that has players ranked 10, 20, 30 and 40. This would be an average WPPR rating of 25. This team would be ranked higher than a team comprised of players ranked 20, 40, 60 and 80. This would be an average WPPR rating of 50.

The tournament directors will divide teams into two groups. The first group will consist of those teams seeded 1 through 16. This group will play a first round match (1 vs. 16, 2 vs. 15, etc.). Following this first round of play, teams that win in the first round will be put in the A division. The teams that lose will be put in the B division.

The second group will consist of those teams seeded 17 through 32. This group will play a first round match (17 vs. 32, 18 vs. 31, etc.). Following this first round of play, the 8 winning teams in the first round will be put in the C division. The losing teams will be put in the D division.

The third group will consist of those teams seeded 33 through 48. This group will play a first round match (33 vs. 48, 34 vs. 47, etc.). Following this first round of play, the 8 winning teams in the first round will be put in the E division. The losing teams will be put in the F division.

Once the first round of play is completed, all teams will be inserted into their corresponding brackets for each division. Teams will be re-seeded based on their total number of points gained through the first round. If teams have equal point totals, then initial seedings will be the tie breaker. It is important to remember that after the first round of play, the positioning of all teams will remain the same throughout the rest of the tournament. At this point we will have our 8 teams all seeded for each of the 6 divisions.

During the rounds of play, the winning team will advance while the losing team is eliminated from the championship run and will continue to play for final position and rankings, as well as keep trying to accumulate points for the tournament MVP trophy and Division plaques. It is important to remember that no team is eliminated after the first round of play, and every point counts, so play at your top level at all times. It is also up to teams that have been eliminated to seek out their next opponents, have only the captains approach the score table, and be given sheets to continue play.

In cases where a match is already decided, it is important that all games be played to completion. MVP points will continue to be counted, which is important not only for WPPR points, but also the effect it will have on the MVP winners that will receive plaques.

If time should run out and we need to clear the hall due to time restraints, teams still trying to finish are welcome to come back into the hall once it re-opens and continue finishing their matches. We will do everything possible to run a successful tournament, but players need to be understanding that sometimes things are beyond our control. We also ask that Team captains keep their teams close together and start matches in a timely manner so we can keep things moving along. Pinbrawl isn't a sprint, but it is definitely a marathon, so be ready for a full day of pinball fun

Thank you and good luck to all players who will be participating in PinBrawl IX (2007)
