PinBrawl Open Format
Qualifying for all tournaments will be based on the new IFPA format. Players are
looking to get a top 20 score on as many machines as they can. Players will receive
points based on their top 20 scores and will be ranked against other competitors.
Players will receive 20 points for 1st place down to 1 point for 20th place on each
game. Players can reenter as many times as they want, but only a player’s highest
score counts on each machine. With 4 machines, the highest score for any one player
would be 80 points.
The top 12 ranked players will qualify in each of the skill divisions (A, B & C).
Finals will be similar to PinBrawl utilizing group play to determine the finalists.
With the top 4 players receiving a bye, qualifiers 5, 7, 9 and 11 will form one
group, while qualifiers 6, 8, 10 and 12 will form the second group. Each group will
play 3 games with players earning 7, 5, 3 or 1 point depending on their finishing
position. Following those 3 games, the four players with the highest point total
will advance to the semifinals. The top qualifier and 3rd place qualifier will join
the 1st and 3rd place finishers from the quarterfinal match, while the 2nd place
qualifier and 4th place qualifier will join the 2nd and 4th place finishers from
the quarterfinal match. These two groups will play another 3 game match utilizing
the same scoring. Following those 3 games, the four players with the highest point
total will advance to the finals. A third and final 3-game match will be played
to determine the winners.
The Women’s, Junior’s and Senior’s division will have a similar format, except the
top 6 ranked players will qualify for the playoffs. The top 2 players will receive
a bye, while the other 4 players will compete in a 3-game semifinal match. The top
two finishers from this semifinal match will advance to the finals along with the
top 2 original qualifiers. Another 3-game match will be played to determine the
winners.
Original qualifying positions will be used in all rounds of finals play for choice
of game or position. The same game cannot be played twice during the same match.
Any tie-breakers will be determined by a one ball playoff on a machine chosen at
random.
The PinBrawl Open is an
IFPA endorsed tournament. All players that participate in the A-division will earn
World Pinball Player Rankings points.
